To conclude, Marcus Aurelius exemplified many of the virtues which comprised the traits of an ideal Roman, which were shown throughout his life, starting in his early life and education, his loyalty as emperor, his philosophy and character, and in the legacy left behind after his death. He satisfied the ideals of seriousness, shunning luxury, modesty, and discipline. Due to these virtues coming to light throughout his reign of 19 years, Marcus Aurelius is still known today as one of the 5 good emperors, and as a significant philosopher.
